Hi, I'm
Regina Pontow, the author of this site and the materials marketed
here.
My background includes writing over 15,000 resumes for job seekers
in the $20,000 to $200,000 plus salary range. I've written ten
resume books and an instructor transparency set; and authored
two additional resume websites. Cumulatively, our sites attract
nearly 1 million visitors each month. |

We've
won Best of the Web and Diamond Excellence Web Awards based on
the content and design of our sites. Plus -- we've been reviewed

Now a little about my resume writing experience! In 1985, I started
a resume writing business and within 2 years had written over
1,500 resumes. Starting with my very first resume, clients began
reporting that they were getting double and triple their interview
rates with some reporting that they had landed an interview for
every resume they sent out. I attributed this success to my love
and study of advertising coupled with a degree in marketing.
Plus my keen awareness of the self doubt many job seekers feel
when they begin marketing themselves and looking for a job --
something almost all of us hate! I found that at least half of
my time with clients (usually 2-3 hours with each person) was
spent as a motivational coach - helping them identify and believe
in their top skills!
Feeling I needed experience in interviewing and hiring personnel,
I then spent the next three years doing this for Dunhill Personnel
Systems and Express Personnel. Then I opened and managed my own
personnel agency. During this time I interviewed thousands of
applicants and placed hundreds of people in jobs with major Northwest
employers. However, I missed working with people and coaching
them. So I changed careers and became a Career Development Instructor
with a leading business college.
In 1994 I finally finished my first book, Proven Resumes and
Confidence Builders. I then went to work as a Job Placement Specialist
for the University of Washington, Bothell. My presentations on
resume writing often resulted in comments like, "Gee, this
is the best presentation I've every seen!" In less than
4 years my instructor materials had been sold to over 60 colleges
and more than 40 Employment Security and Worker Assistance programs.
I have given hundreds of presentations for organizations such
as Boeing Re-Employment Center, Worker Assistance Programs, United
Parcel Service - HR Department in Oregon, Northwest Educational
Conferences, The City of Seattle and many, many University and
College Career Events. Based on the success ESD offices were
experiencing in my state, I was recommended by a Regional Administrator
to the Governor's Board on Employment Issues.
Being hailed a Master Trainer by college instructors and career
development professionals, I soon became busy enough that I focused
all of my time giving presentations. Then in 1996 I began writing
the Career-Specific Booklets offered in this site. Having given
hundreds of resume writing seminars I had learned first-hand
what excited and motivated job seekers as they watched my presentation.
Armed with this information I wrote Proven
Resumes: Strategies That Have Increased Salaries and Changed
Lives!
and packed it to the brim with all the information I knew that
job seekers wanted the most and that I had seen land the most
interviews and highest salary offers! It received immediate acceptance
and even more success stories came rolling in from job seekers
who have purchased it!
All in all, I estimate that about a million people have been
taught many of my strategies by the instructors and worker assistance
programs who use my materials along with the visitors who come
to my sites! I've spent well over 12,000 hours working directly
with job seekers writing their resumes.
So that's my background. By integrating my love of marketing
and advertising and blending it with confidence building strategies
the Proven Resumes System really has taken on a life and success
of it's own. If you go through our Mini Resume Workshop and read
the descriptions of my books, you'll see that my materials are
far different than other resume books.
